Trump wants to evacuate Gaza by sending residents to other countries
US President Donald Trump wants to evacuate the Gaza Strip by moving Palestinians from Gaza to other countries. For this, he has called on Egypt and Jordan to shelter Gaza residents. Trump, who was sworn in as US president for a second term a week ago, expressed his view to reporters on Saturday. His statement has raised fears of another ethnic cleansing in Gaza.
On Saturday, US local time, Trump told reporters that he wants Egypt and Jordan to shelter more Palestinians from Gaza. He spoke to Jordanian King Abdullah II about the issue. He will also speak to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi about the issue on Sunday (today).
Trump said, "I want Egypt to take more people (Palestinians) (from Gaza). You're probably talking about 1.5 million people. We have to move them elsewhere and evacuate Gaza."
